bucharest: Piata Unirii in central Bucharest on a rainy summer night which was once part of historic Bucharest, known as 'Little Paris' between the World Wars. Its beautiful villas and architecture were leveled by Ceausescu in the mid 1980s to make way for the Palace of Parliament, the second largest building in the world. Wide boulevards modeled after North Korea replaced narrow streets and Communist Blocs were erected in place of beautiful old buildings. Bucharest, Romania. 2009.
